I know that crochet cables can be tricky and confusing as to where the stitches are placed, so I’ve put together a video tutorial for this fingerless wrist warmers crochet pattern to walk you through the whole thing.
Fingerless Wrist Warmers Crochet Pattern Materials
- A 4mm(G) crochet hook or hook needed to meet gauge
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
Along with the above you will need the following yarn for your wrist warmers:
Timeless Tones DK, 100% Acrylic, 250m/273yds/100g
You will need approx. 185 (230, 275) m, 200 (250, 300) yds of the recommended yarn to crochet the crochet cable gloves. 1 (1, 2) balls of the recommended yarn.
I used the shades Seabreeze, Faded Denim and Oatmilk but there are loads to choose from!

Stitches
The pattern is written in standard US terms and uses the following crochet stitches:
sc – single crochet (how to single crochet stitch)
hdc – half double crochet (how to half double crochet)
tr – treble crochet
Special Stitches
flo – front loop only
To work the front loop only, turn your work so that the top is facing you to see the front and back loops. Work into the front loop by inserting the hook into the loop nearest to you.
blo – backloop only
To work the back loop only, turn your work so that the top is facing you to see the front and back loops. Work into the back loop by inserting the hook into the loop furthest from you.
FP – front post
Yarn over, insert your hook around the post of the stitch from front to back to front, yarn over and pull through a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through the remaining 2 loops on your hook.
BP – back post
Yarn over, insert your hook around the post of the stitch from back to front to back, yarn over and pull through a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through the remaining 2 loops on your hook.
hdc2tog – half double crochet 2 together
Yarn over, insert your hook, yarn over and pull through stitch, yarn over, insert your hook into next stitch, yarn over and pull through stitch, yarn over and pull through all loops on the hook.
How do you Make this Fingerless Wrist Warmers Crochet Pattern?
- The wrist warmers are made from the bottom up.
- We begin with the Cuff that uses sc stitches and is worked in turned rows.
- The Cuff is joined to form a ring.
- The Main Body is then worked in turned rounds into the sides of the Cuff rows.
- When ready, we change to worked turned rows for a number of rows to create the Thumbhole.
- We then rejoin and work in turned rounds again when the Thumbhole is complete.
Pattern Gauge
Gauge: 19 sts and 16 rounds = 4″ by 4″ using 4mm hook

- The pattern is worked firstly in rows for the Cuff and then in rounds for the Main Body.
- Make sure to use stitch markers at the beginning of each round so as not to lose your place.
- A ch1 at the beginning of a row or round does not count as a stitch.
- Read through the entire pattern before beginning.
- Before you start, go through the pattern and highlight/mark the stitch and row counts that correspond to the size you are making (this will make your life much easier!).
- Make sure that you are familiar with all of the stitches in the abbreviations list before you begin.
- Stitch counts are given in [ ] at the end of each row or round. If no stitch count is given, then the count is the same as the previous row.
- The count number referring to each size is laid out as follows: Toddler/Child (Teen/Small Adult, Medium/Large Adult)

Rounds 4-7 create the Main Body Set Pattern.
At this point you are ready to continue working the Main Body Set Pattern until you are ready to create the Thumbhole.
If you like this pattern, you might like another cable pattern. Warm, cozy, and packed full of texture, this elegant cable crochet headband pattern is one for all the family.
The Thumbhole is created by instead of joining the rounds with a slip stitch, just turn at the end of the row and work the next row as per the pattern.
You can do this for as many rows as you like (not slip stitching and just working in rows) to create a space big enough for the Thumbholes before rejoining and working in turned rounds again. I have made suggestions below but feel free to adapt as you would like to.
The following are the TOTAL number of rounds and rows that you need to work to create the size samples I have suggested:
Rounds 8- 15 (19, 23): Repeat the Main Body Set Pattern.
THUMBHOLE PLACEMENT
Baby/Toddler Size:
I suggest working Rounds 8-12 of the Main Wrist Warmer Body as Rows to create a Thumbhole. At the end of Round 12, ss to join in the 1st st and work in turned Rounds again.
Teen/Small Adult Size:
I suggest working Rounds 10-15 of the Main Wrist Warmer Body as Rows to create a Thumbhole. At the end of Round 15, ss to join in the 1st st and work in turned Rounds again.
Medium/Large Adult Size:
I suggest working Rounds 13-19 of the Main Wrist Warmer Body as Rows to create a Thumbhole. At the end of Round 19, ss to join in the 1st st and work in turned Rounds again.
FINISHING
All Sizes
Break yarn.
Weave in all ends to finish.
