I’ve had the absolute pleasure of working with the wonderful team at Katia to create eight new crochet patterns across my Tierra and Sombra Collections, and I can’t wait for us to make them together.
With gorgeous colours, beautiful textures and wonderfully simple stitches, this crochet-along is all about slowing down and enjoying a little mindful making during one of the busiest times of the year.

Let’s talk yarn!
One of my favourite things about these collections is the gorgeous yarns I’ve been able to use from Katia! I’ve chosen just three yarns across all eight designs, each bringing something a little different to the finished pieces.
Katia Azteca – Tierra Collection
Oh, the colours! Azteca is a beautiful self-striping yarn with a lovely blend of wool and acrylic. The gorgeous colour changes do all the hard work for you, creating stunning stripes and combinations without having to change yarn constantly!
Katia Merino Aran – Tierra Collection
The perfect partner to Azteca! This wonderfully soft merino wool and acrylic blend adds beautiful solid stripes to the Tierra designs, letting those gorgeous Azteca colours really shine. It’s cosy, comfortable and lovely to work with.
Katia Basic Merino – Sombra Collection
For Sombra, I wanted a yarn that would really let the texture do the talking! Basic Merino is a beautifully soft merino wool and acrylic blend with gorgeous stitch definition, making it perfect for showing off that lovely crossover stitch throughout all three designs.

Barcelona Crochet Collective – Frequently Asked Questions
It’s a very special crochet-along bringing together four crochet designers — myself, Michelle from MJ’s Off The Hook Designs, Sarah-Jayne from Bella Coco Crochet and Wilma from Wilmade!
We’ve each created our own gorgeous collection using Katia yarns, and we’re inviting you to join us for a lovely few weeks of crochet, creativity and community.
Yes, absolutely! All eight of my Tierra and Sombra patterns will be released free to view on the HanJan Crochet blog throughout November.
You can follow along without purchasing anything, and you’re more than welcome to join our community and live events too!
We officially kick things off on Monday 9 November 2026, with my first free pattern, the Sombra Sweater Scarf, arriving on Wednesday 11 November.
The remaining patterns will be released throughout November, with the final release on Sunday 29 November.

You can even choose patterns from the other three designers’ collections. There’s no set project you need to complete to take part.
