Mesh Crochet Sweater Pattern Materials
- A 4mm(G) and 3.5mm (E) crochet hook or hook needed to meet gauge
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
Along with the above you will need the following yarn for your sweater:
Farmhouse Cotton, 100% Cotton, (360yds / 330m / 100g) – I used Viridian for my sweater.
💡Although the yarn I’ve used is labelled as a Category 3 (Light) yarn, it actually behaves much more like a fingering weight yarn, which is exactly what gives this sweater its beautiful shape, drape and lightweight feel.
I’ve done some swatching with other yarns from my stash and included the ones that matched gauge successfully below. When choosing a substitute, I recommend focusing on yardage and matching gauge with a swatch, rather than simply looking for another Category 3 yarn. In my experience, most true Category 3 yarns will be too heavy and won’t create the same fabric.

To fit chest size: 30 (34, 38, 42, 46) (50, 54, 58, 62) inches
Finished sweater circumference: 34 (36.5, 39, 44, 46.5) (52, 54.5, 59.5, 64.5) inches
Length: 20 (20.5, 20.75, 21.5, 22.25) (23, 24, 24.75, 25.5) inches (adjustable)

Sweater Yarn Amounts
945 (1025, 1135, 1250, 1365) (1535, 1680, 1795, 1840)m, 1030 (1120, 1245, 1370, 1490) (1680, 1840, 1965, 2115)yds of yarn.
Balls of recommended yarn: 3 (4, 4, 4, 5) (5, 6, 6, 6) balls

Making Your Summer Crochet Sweater Perfect For You
The sweater is designed to have a small amount of positive ease but by selecting from the schematic you can you have the option to choose a looser or tighter fit as you would like. There are a few elements we can adjust as we go, firstly though choose the finished chest measurement you’d like and then you can do the following:
Adjust The Length:
If you would like to increase or decrease the length of your sweater you can adjust the number of row repeats you work before you add the sleeves.
Just make sure to finish the body rows at the same point of the pattern repeat on a Row 4 of the Main Set Pattern before beginning the sleeves.
Sleeve Depth:
You can work as many or as few rows as you like of the Sleeve to make them your desired depth.
Sleeve Length:
You can extend your sleeves to make them any length you like. Just make sure to have a stitch multiple of 6 for each sleeve to make sure the pattern works.
Ribs and Edging:
The pattern includes instructions for a traditional ribbed collar and cuffs. You can make these as deep/long as you like by adding more stitches and rows as required.

Pattern Gauge
Gauge: 14 rows and 19 sts of main set pattern = 4″ by 4″ using a 4mm hook
Making a crochet gauge swatch is important when crocheting projects like garments to ensure that it ends up the desired size.
Did I mention the sweater only uses beginner stitches! All you need to know is how to work a double crochet stitch and a single crochet stitch to make this!
If you’d like to work a swatch ahead of purchasing the pattern then you can do this as follows:
Row 1: Fsc 27, turn.
Rows 2-3: stacked dc in first st, dc in next 2 sts, *ch1, skip next st, dc in next st, ch1, skip next st, dc in next 3 sts; rep from * to end, turn.
Row 4: ch1, sc in each st across, turn.
Rows 5-6: stacked dc in first st, dc in next st, ch1, skip next st, dc in next 3 sts, *ch1, skip next st, dc in next st, ch1, skip next st, dc in next 3 sts; rep from * to last 3 sts, ch1, skip next st, dc in next 2 sts.
Row 7: Rep Row 4.
Rows 2-7 create the Main Set Pattern. Repeat until you have enough to measure and be sure your gauge is correct.
Block to measurements and then measure your swatch. You need it to be bigger than 4″ by 4″. This is so that you can measure the stitches in the centre of the swatch to see if you meet the gauge.
