Crochet Bunny Garland Pattern Materials
- A 3.5mm(E) crochet hook or hook needed to reach coaster size
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
Along with the above you will need the following yarn for your garland:
Cottage Cotton Yarn, 60% Cotton, 40% Acrylic 207yds/189m/100g in 2 colours. For mine I used Fired Clay, Chiffon and Cherry Glow.
You will require approximately: 73 metres, 80 yards of each of yarn A and yarn B to crochet the coasters. 1 ball of the recommended yarn A and yarn B.
It’s a category 4, worsted weight yarn which is what gives these baskets their sturdy structure. Find out more about yarn weights and categories.

Yarn Substitutes
You can use any yarn that you like bearing in mind that you need to make sure you meet the gauge. Some options are:
- Comfy Worsted, Cotton acrylic blend, 109yds/100m/100g
- Dishie, 100% Cotton, 190yds/175m/100g
- Craft Cotton Yarn, 100% Cotton, 115yds/105m/71g
Sizing
Each square of the bunting measures approximately 4.25″ by 4.25″ excluding any tassels you may add.
For my garland using the 4 bunny motifs, I used a length of string that is 50”, but you can make yours any length you prefer.
This allows plenty of tying space at either end but the ultimate length is up to you and also depends on how far you want them spaced out.

FAQs – Making A Crochet Garland
Yes, an Easter bunny crochet garland can be a great project for beginners, especially if you use a simple pattern with basic stitches like this one. Although it uses mosaic crochet, you only need to know how to work a single crochet and a double crochet stitch.
The best yarn for an Easter bunny crochet garland is typically a lightweight to medium cotton yarn. Cotton holds its shape well, making your crochet bunnies look neat and defined, which is ideal for decorative pieces like garlands.
You can also use acrylic yarn if you prefer something softer or more budget-friendly, but cotton is often recommended for its durability and clean finish.
The length of your crochet garland depends on where you plan to display it. Most garlands are between 1 to 2 metres long, which works well for mantels, shelves, or walls.
A good rule is to crochet between 4 to 8 bunny motifs and space them evenly along a chain or piece of twine. If you’re decorating a larger area, you can easily adjust the length by adding more bunnies or increasing the spacing between them.
Yes, you can wash your garland, but it’s best to do so gently to keep it looking its best. Hand washing in cool water with mild detergent is usually the safest option, especially if your garland includes delicate details.
If you’ve used cotton yarn, it will hold up well to washing, but always reshape the bunny motifs and lay them flat to dry. Avoid machine washing if possible, as it may cause the garland to stretch or lose its shape.
Time needed: 1 hour
Make your bunny coaster squares using the crochet bunny coaster pattern, make sure you block them to size and then come back here to assemble your garland.
- Lay your motifs out in the order you want them

- Either create a crochet chain to the length you need

- Or cut a length of string to make the garland with

- Thread the chain/string onto a needle

- Thread the needle from front to back through the 3rd stitch of the coaster

- Thread the needle from back to front through the 19th stitch of the coaster

- Repeat steps 5 and 6 for each coaster

- Tie a knot at each end to use for hanging and to secure
