The Fall Into Place Blanket is made up of eight different mosaic sections that you can follow exactly as I have, or mix, match and repeat to make it completely your own. Make mine, change mine, or create something completely different. I can’t wait to see what you choose.

Here’s What We’re Making 🍂
One gorgeous, cosy autumn blanket filled with pumpkins, mushrooms, acorns, leaves and plenty of lovely mosaic pattern in between.
There are eight different sections altogether – four larger autumn motifs and four smaller patterns to bring everything together.
Follow my original layout exactly, or mix, match and repeat the sections to create your own version.
Does overlay mosaic crochet look a little daunting though? Don’t let it fool you. You’re only working with one colour at a time, and I’ll be there to help you along the way.
All you need to decide is… which section will be your favourite? 👀 🍄🎃🍂

Love the pumpkins? Add more.
Fancy a blanket full of mushrooms and leaves? Go for it.
Not particularly attached to the acorns? Leave them out.
Want yours shorter, longer or wider? You can do that too.
There really isn’t one right Fall Into Place blanket.

Use them all, a few or just one!
And between those are four smaller 12-row Intersections:
Crosses • Dots • Squares • T’s
These smaller sections are perfect for breaking up the larger motifs and giving the whole blanket that gorgeous mix of pattern.
Use all four, pick a favourite to repeat throughout or leave them out entirely.
So you can create any sequence you like to build your own blanket!

Design Your Fall Into Place Blanket
Choose your blanket width and approximate finished length, then mix and match the sections to create your own version. I’ll help you keep an eye on the length and suggest a layout for you.
1. Choose your blanket width
Use one of the suggested widths or choose your own number of 20-stitch repeats.
Your starting stitch count will be calculated as (20 × repeats) + 2 edge stitches.
2. How long would you like your blanket to be?
Choose your approximate finished length. This includes the envelope border.
3. Choose your sections
The blanket works especially nicely with the shorter intersections and larger autumn motifs dispersed throughout. Choose how many of each you’d like and I’ll suggest an order for you.
These are the smaller pattern sections that sit beautifully between your main autumn motifs.

Choose a finished length above, then start adding your sections.

“But I’ve never tried overlay mosaic crochet…”
Then this might just be the project to try it with.
For years I looked at mosaic crochet and thought it must be ridiculously complicated.
All those colours. All that pattern.
Surely there was some sort of crochet wizardry involved?
There really isn’t.
You only work with one colour at a time.
You’re not trying to juggle two colours across a row and there’s no complicated colourwork to keep track of.
The magic comes from where you place your stitches.
That’s what creates all those lovely patterns that look as though you’ve done something terribly clever.
Once you understand how it works and get into the rhythm of it, it’s wonderfully repetitive.
So if you’ve been looking at mosaic crochet from afar thinking maybe one day, consider this your invitation.
